The Medjugorje Archives Mary has been appearing to six people in Medjugorje, Bosnia and Herzegovina, since 24 June 1981. She has been reported to have given ten secrets, and has reportedly healed many of the millions of pilgrims who visit the site every year. The apparitions take place on the rocky hill called Podbrdo (Apparition Hill). Her message is one of peace, forgiveness, and conversion.

In addition to forgiveness and a renewal of devotion to the Blessed Mother, the Medjugorje messages include many exhortations to prayer and to a more intense practice of it. They also encourage a deeper involvement with the sacraments, especially Eucharist and Reconciliation, and they emphasize the importance of family life. They also warn of the dangers of hatred and violence and call for a firm fight against sin.

In the early days, it seemed that Medjugorje was headed for disaster. The visionaries were under constant police surveillance, and the local church was censored. They were criticized by the press and even accused of being liars. Then two Soviet-made MIG fighter jets came close to destroy the village, but a mysterious fog prevented them from dropping their bombs.

Despite all these hardships, the miracles and healings continue to happen. The number of pilgrims from all over the world continues to grow. The positive fruits that result from Medjugorje are clear: abundant conversions, a large increase in the sacraments, a deepening of prayer, and many renewals in marital and family life.
